Afterlife: other skulls and fragments?
The image you have just clicked is of a 'frontlet' that was in the British Museum in 1899, as it appeared in Sclater's Book of Antelopes.
There are some other skulls and skull remnants mentioned in the literature:
• Albany museum, South Africa (not verified by Mohr, 1967)
• Horns - St Andrews, Bell Pettigrew Museum (to be confirmed)
• Frontlet and horn cores – British Museum, London
Writers such as Sclater thought no skull existed in the 19th century. Later however, Sclater and Thomas (Book of Antelopes, IV:10-11) were pleased to note that the National Collection in the British Museum had a frontlet and horns that they 'had no hesitation in referring to H. leucophaeus'].
